Firstly, let’s praise your achievement. You completed 60 hours of course instruction, passed the final exam and now done with the State exam. CELEBRATE! Share the news with everyone.
Secondly, you will receive an email (to the same email you received the registration for the PSI exam) from Maryland Real Estate Commission with a registration number. This will be your real estate license number once you sign up with a brokerage. You will need to know that number as you register for a lot of stuff.
Thirdly, start or continue to interview different brokerages. If you know someone in real estate, interview with their brokerage; whomever that introduced you to real estate, check out what their brokerage offers; If you have been following an agent online, interview with them. Do your research and consult with different brokers. Take your time.
In Maryland, you have one year to pin down which brokerage you shall affiliate or work under. The clock will start “ticking” from the date you passed the real estate exam.
You do have the option to consider to be “active” with the real estate commission but under a referral brokerage. Want to learn more about this option, schedule a discovery call. Final note is that whomever you pick as your preferred company or brokerage is the best choice for you and now. You have the flexibility to switch companies at any time if you do not receive what you thought you were promised. This is your business, and you are in control.

Fourthly, once you have selected a broker or company, access the real estate commission website, https://www.dllr.state.md.us/cgi-bin/ElectronicLicensing/RE/original/REOriginal1.cgi apply for your license and pay the application fee of $90. The real estate license is valid for two years.
Your carefully chosen broker will direct you onto your next step which most likely to join a local association and get access to the multiple listing system - BrightMLS. There is a lot of information coming your way. You will feel overwhelmed. This is normal. It will all come together and know that learning never stops.
